AWT cylinders heads are the result of continuous development, and listed heads are specifications which will suit most road/light competition users. Heavy specification heads will require a discussion and consultation about use and engine specifications to ensure we provide the perfect head for your application.

Here at AWT we refrain from using terms such as ‘stage’ or ‘fast road’ and ‘race’ when referencing a certain level of headwork. There is no industry standard linked to these so called levels of modification, and thus can be very misleading. This is especially so when those terms are used to compare ‘levels’ of headwork by different houses as they can be of very differing levels of quality.

We have developed a dual level specification offer for ‘off the shelf’ cylinder heads. This has involved a development program for applications suited to the more typical levels of engine modification.

The first level, referred to as RS1, compromises a relatively mild level of port reworking, concentrating on the bowl area and valve seat profile. This is particularly suitable for non competitive road going vehicles interested in enhancing a near stock specification engine and can see good gains on its own. If your rebuilding your cylinder head due to damage, it is a great way to add valuable performance for relatively little cost. The bowls and short sides are enhanced along with a long life but high flowing seat configuration, this nets considerable low AND high lift flow, adding to valuable area under the curve and not loosing out anywhere over stock heads. The addition of flow quality allows better fuel homogeneity and a cleaner more efficient burn. In most cases this will provide all the extra flow you need, and at an affordable level.

The second level, referred to as TS1, compromises a full level port rework. Building on the base blocks of the RS1, the full port reworking with a slight change in short side development to work with higher port velocities associated with higher rpm engines with longer duration/higher lift camshafts, and valve seat geometry more applicable to this application. A good choice for a track day special, or clubman level competition as from our results, it builds a strong torque curve if coupled with the correct cam choice.

All AWT cylinder head work consists of the following:

  • Disassembly
  • Chemical clean
  • Inspection for wear and damage
  • Required machining and replacement*
  • Required port work
  • Valve seats re-cut
  • Valves reground
  • Hot tank and wash
  • Assembly with new stem seals

*If valve guides achieve the required clearances then they are kept, damaged or worn guides are replaced at extra cost.

Custom Specifications for listed and non listed cylinder heads available upon request.
